This is how the blonde bellydancer mermaid came to life!
1) Sketching phase. Pencils and inks:

The original conceptual sketch was drawn on a 8.5 by 11 inch piece of bristol board with a mechanical pencil. After creating the pose I wanted, all the details were added. The entire pencil sketch was inked with a mix of two inking pens, the koh-i-noor technical pen with waterproof ink and a sacura micron ink pen. After the sketch was completely inked the pencil lines were erased. It took about five hours between the sketching and inking of this painting.

2)Adding glitter paints:

Colorful glittery gel paints were added to the mermaid's jewerly, dangling belt with gold coins, earrings and bracelets. It took about four hours to add all the small colorful details to this illustration.

3) Painting with watercolors:

Layers and layers of watercolors were used to add vibrant colors to this piece. I use professional grade watercolors that are very bright and colorful. The entire image took 12 hours to finish, from the original sketch to the inking and adding of glittery gel paints and watercolors, but it was a very good challenge, and I am very pleased with the result.
